Black Dolly has a classic sound in a modern era that's fresh but takes you back to the classic sounds of the 70's and 80's. 3 of the 5 members are full time music educators so this band is a manifestation of practicing what you preach!

Started by Chris Newbury and his wife Wendy, the band was really formed by a desire for Chris to give Wendy a recording session for their anniversary. Chris utilized the help of his long time friends and musical collaborators Eddie Ramirez(Israel Houghton, Johnny Ramirez), Frazer Wambeke(Frazer Wambeke Group), Luke Basile(Rainmaker Studios), and Ryan Matzinger(Ike Turner) to record the Dianne Reeves cover of Fleetwood Mac's hit "Dreams". The project was enough of a success that Chris decided to formally pursue an official group. The group is has now added Tim Zilar(guitarist) and frequently collaborates with other musicians as well!
Building off of the success of "Dreams", this lineup of musicians continued to write and record more music, both original and covers. Their debut album "Dreams" was released in 2018.

As a Classically trained vocalist, Wendy has performed as a soloist as well as a member of professional ensembles. With diverse skill as a singer, Wendy can sing straight ahead Jazz to classical to R&B. Check her out on our video "Dreams".
Frazer has established himself as a go to musician that covers diverse styles on piano and as a vocalist as well. You can see him playing gigs at wineries or playing with NW Latin band, Milonga. Frazer's (Frazer Wambeke Trio) album Seasons is available on itunes! Check it out!
Luke Basile is a Breedlove guitar artist in the pacific NW. The Oregon native maintains a busy performing schedule as a guitarist for numerous groups while also engineering and producing at Rainmaker Studios in Pasco, WA. You can see Luke's work on youtube!
Eddie Ramirez has made a name for himself as one of the premier bass players in the inland NW. Having toured with artists like Israel Houghton and Johnny Ramirez, Eddie has an ability to play a multitude of styles with authenticity and sense of feel that is one of a kind. He can also be heard in NW Latin Band, Milonga.
Chris has been playing drums since he was 3 years old. His love for drumming has developed into a career in performing, writing, producing, and teaching music. Black Dolly is a creative outlet for Chris in which he put together this group of amazing musicians in order to create music that can be shared with family and friends!
Tim Zilar is a sought after guitarist throughout the NW United States. He has a degree in Music Education from Western Washington University and spends his time performing with a multitude of groups and ensembles. His head turning solos showcase his amazing blend of musicality and technical proficiency.
